I've just recently made my website live. http://kingsfordknives.com

Any comments, critique, suggestions would be awesome.

The "home" page is blank at the moment. I didn't really know what to put there. If no one object to it being pretty much blank. I might just keep it like that.

I'm going to have a give away of one of the knives in my gallery to celebrate the website going live. So stay tuned to the makers forum in the next couple of days. :D

Thanks in advance!
Tim.

P.S any suggestions on how I should give the knife away would be good too. apart from "post to this address" or "to me" :D

The site looks pretty nice to me! You have some great looking knives in the gallery!!

nice webpage. I like your folding knives. I will be watching the wip on the lockback.

How did you make your website? I bought the GoDaddy package that comes with 2 domains and a website builder with tonnes of templates in Wordpress. Did you write the script or did you use a program ? It looks very good and I'd like to emulate the layout.

Your website looks great and is easy to use. Now you know that your site is Marine proof.

I have not seen the full scope of your work until now. Absolutely beautiful tools - clean and crisp.

Jeff

Nice work, Tim:thumbup: Nice layout with good colors. Gallery turned out great!

Now go turn on the grinder!!:D

I like your site.
But if I can give some constructive critisism:
On your contact page you have a telephone number. I assume it will work in Australia but the web is international (I write this on an American website)
I sugest you add the international country code for Australia

Plus to me the box you have around the K from Kingsfort knives is, at first glance, confucing.
To me it looks like a logo and the name is Ingsford knives. I need a second look to figure it out. The different colours contribute to that
I like the crowned K as a logo, I wouldn't use it like that to spell your name

I realy like your honesty in your 'in progress'. It looks good so far

A couple things.... I'd add a small to medium snippet about the heat treat process used... And, instead of saying "making knives about a year" maybe say, "making knives since 2010"

Looks very nice overall!

"My knives are diffidently made to be used but are quite happy looking pretty behind a case." Should this say definitely? Great looking knives. Jess

I think the only thing that stood out to me was the fact that the main picture never changed. it would be better if it switched to a different knife for every different page. other than that, put EVERY knife that you put up for sale up on the website at the same time that you put it on the forums. if someone wants some of your work, then it would be much easier for them to check one place instead of going through three places. just thoughts. I love the way that there are few frills, and i hope it stays that way. there are too many websites that are bloated and just a pain to use.

Very nice site!

I must say if someone came along just browsing your website they may think you've been making for many years. Your work is incredibly clean and precise, and your use of exotic woods really compliments all your designs. I know you've said you don't think they are good enough to sell but I honestly don't think they would last long at ALL once you put them up.

Keep it up man!

could just be my computer, but I'm having problems viewing many of the pages.
No pictures are showing up in the gallery, and only one or two pages allow me to scroll at all.

As for the K logo comment above, I didn't have any problem reading it as "Kingsford".

Im jealous. I made a site and cant get the photo gallery to look liek yours. used godaddy and I think it might be there website builder.

Website is nice and clean, looks great.

Also, that is a giant dog!

Haha, thanks artificial. He is a big fella.

Thanks duffy. I designed the website using photoshop . Then paid a friend of mine (mates rates of course) to do the coding for me. It only took him a couple of days to have it completely ready for me to start uploading pictures and info. Which i just do server side.

Haha, good to know Jeff. Thanks for the comment and having a look.

I know, i know. More like "go sand those blanks ready for HT so you can catch up with Jonny's batch" :D Thanks for the comments.

Hmmm i had wondered if it'd be a bit confusing. but hey, if it made you look twice. That's not really a bad thing ;)
Good idea with the phone number (I'd probably be asleep when you guys tried to call though :D).

Both good point, which I'll amend later today. Thanks fluid.

Nice catch. Thanks Jess.

Thanks thegeek. Do you mean the picture's just below the nav bar? Because if you watch it for a few seconds it's actually a slide show, not a static image. But having it start on a new picture each page is a good idea. I was going for a simple, easy to navigate site. I'm glad that it translated.

Very nice site!

Thanks Wolff. Kind as always.

Unfortunately old browser/versions will have trouble with newer style coding. but it's better to aim for the future than to dwell in the past.
Thanks for checking it out.

Wow thats a lot of quoting. Thankyou for having a look everyone!

I stuffed around with a bunch of do it yourself website makers before I just bit the bullet and just paid my friend to do it. I think he paid for the right to use that gallery as a web developer.

Hi Tiiiiiiiiim, your site looks good friend, get some google analytics goin, i supppose you could "tune" up your site graphics a bit im not sure how your site was built, i still havent been shown how to change/add pics on mine, but for under a 100 a thought it a wise investment, i negotiated a knife in trade for a yr maintanance, these sites compliment the old business card quite well, ive been watching your wip's, i love working in my board shorts and flops and enjoying a beer!! By the way your knives are nice, and that folder is a beast!! GHaile
