I have to start by saying a huge thank you first to Ethan Becker and then to Paul Tsujimoto, Ethan was going to try to come to our WNY gathering this year and family obligations kept him from coming. That is the bad news. The good news is Ethan was also going to bring Paul , but Paul was still able to come up and not only hang out with us, he was able to bring some product to sell. He did a sharpening demonstration for us, he walked and explored some new land most of us had not been on before. He helped us ID some plants and wild berries. We had a great time. Ok now for my goodies I was able to pick up a bk-2, a Bk-11, a bk-9 with the bk-13, and I even got a Ka-bar 1276 short heavy bowie. These are some great pieces and I can wait to get playing with them. Of course I had a bunch of my own knives with me and everyone there liked them as well. Thanks again Paul for coming up it sure was a great time and sorry you had to leave so soon. Doug

Great gathering. Thanks for coming Paul, I appreciated the chance to meet you and all the great tips and advice. Hope to see you again at the next one.

Larry I have great news Paul (toooj) has already added our gathering to next years calendar and as long as he has no commitments the weekend we have it he will be there. Toooj and I will work on Ethan as well. It sure was great to have toooj there. He also tossed me some more ideas for our gathering. Doug

Doug,

Thanks for the kind words. And thanks for your hospitality. I had a great time and it was good to put faces to the bladeforum members.
The location is great. Let's keep this going and growing.

Oh, By the way; Good haul of knives. People missed out on some good prices. I'll bring a bigger selection of other KA-BARs in addition to the Beckers next year.

Best Regards,

Paul Tsujimoto

Paul I have been running ideas through my head already to make it bigger and everything next year. I have been thinking about setting up areas to do different things like trap making, chopping and batoning, plant id primitive fishing contest and other activities. I have alsp been thinking about the lay of the land and how we can use some of the areas as well. Should be interesting to see what we can do. Doug

Thank's, Paul, for providing such a sweet opportunity on some great blades! It was great to be able to pick your brain for a while, particularly the part about the handles on the 77 being made right outside my home town (like I needed any more justification for buying that knife :o). Thanks also to John (John G) and Dale (the lone gunman) for making the long trip out to our friendly little slice of the country.

I had a great time, met some great people, and heard some great stories, so I'de say the weekend was a success. I can see how it could grow to something much bigger. But not TOO big, we don't want another Woodstock on our hands! :D
