The other day she told me that I could have an Emerson knife (I've been bugging her about getting one for a while). I narrowed it down to the folding Karambit or a full size Commander. I asked her to come over and make the decision for me, and she told me to get one of each! Then she got me aluminum trainers (not emersons, but the shapes are similar) to go with them!

The only thing that I regret is that I ordered a combo-edge commander. I'm thinking about sending it back for a plain edge. I don't really use my folding knives much (on my pocket all day long, but they only see the occasional box to cut open) but when time comes to resharpen, those serrations can be a pain.

What do you guys think?

shes a keeper friend :)

congratulations on the nice catch (knives and wife) :D

cheers

enjoy playin with the new toys

Definately a keeper. As for the blade, I personally would not purchase serrated. I dont like them for some reason. They do have their purpose, yes, but I dont cut a lot of rope or whatever. Go with plain edge.

if your only reservation is sharpening, get the serrations. they are not hard at all to sharpen.

i use the spyderco sharpmaker stones.

i prefer partial serrations, for cardboard, rope, etc, they cut much more efficiently.

Lucky guy, sounds like you have a great wife. I hope you show her appreciation. I too am lucky that my wife not only understands my many expensive hobbies, she actually encourages them. She very patiently lets me show her the knives I want to buy online, even offering input, when I know she has absolutely no clue what the hell I am talking about. I try to make up for it buy buying her jewelry whenever I can. Luckily she likes to collect colored stones instead of diamonds ;) .The added bonus is she makes a helluva lot more money than me.:D
