My Wife's Personal Best Alligator Gar

Finally put my wife on a pretty good alligator gar, on a remote stretch of river deep in the heart of Texas. The gar went 6 foot 2 inch and around 100-110 pounds and likely between 20-30 years old she was released healthy after a few pics like all the gar i catch are.

Managed to hook a second gar while we had one already hooked up, my 8 year old Allyse and i fought this one from the bank on 130# braid and released her unharmed after a few pics. i have never seen a gar with a mouth quite like this one had, either it has some sort of deformity or it was injured when it was younger. it may have been a little skinny for her size because of her Crooked Jaw.

These are awesome pics and it is really nice to see the whole family involved! I have seen gar like this in a bunch of the rivers here in Florida and in some of the lakes, but I cannot imagine catching one!
