I received my new knife from Mark Wohlwend today and it's exactly what I wanted.
When I drew it up I tried to come up with what I define as a survival knife. It had to be large enough to chop poles for a shelter, split wood for a fire and pry sections of fatwood from old stumps. At the same time I wanted it to be able to shave fuzz sticks, whittle trap triggers and slice up food items. I debated on the dimensions for quite some time as I wanted to make sure it was not so big that I wouldn't want to carry it. To guage the length I made it the same size as my JK Hiker XL and my Swamprat Ratmandu. On first impressions I believe this knife will serve me well on all these tasks !

It now completes my trio of blades that I can choose from depending on what kinda outing I'm going to do.

It's the middle one and I call it the Booshway:

All your knives are great, but that Wohlwend looks awesome to me. I love that wide but not overly long blade! I bet that becomes a fast favorite.

It had better cos Mrs Pit is getting tired of telling me " NO MORE KNIVES !!!!":D

Very nice, Pit. But you must know that the words "complete" and "blades" aren't allowed in the same sentence. Basic rule of grammar:D

Wow Pit, that turned out great. I think I like it more than your Knatchet. Can't wait to see it in action.

Cool knife pit, I love to see the differences in what is considered an all around "survival" knife from one geographic location/climate to another. While I tend to like 5 and 6 inch blade best I would only really be needing something that broad and heavy in the winters here...which are shorter and no where near as harsh as yours.

And you listen so d@mn well too, no wonder you're afraid for her to have a larger knife :D

Good looking knives Bro

Mark makes a great knife

and as far as Mrs. Pitt telling you "NO more knives"

we both know where that is going to get her........

I highly suspect it's not as heavy as ya imagine. It's 3/16" stock but really well tapered. For some reason it looks bigger in pics than it really is !

Can't wait til you start a thread on the next one. :)

They're all nice, but in the trio I don't see a blade point that (to me) would be adequate for the first vent cut on a fish or starter cut on gutting a deer/squirrel/rabbit.

That don't mean they wouldn't, course. Have you tried em on those types of cuts? Maybe I've been too selective, pointwise, cause those look stronger in the tip than those I generally prefer, which would be a good thing, survival-wise.

Good point buddy, ya never gonna get ONE knife that excels at every task there is always gonna be some sort of compromise.
Out of the three I'm pretty sure that the little ML knife would be the best for skinning and gutting, in fact I think it would be quite well suited for that.
Other than birds the only animals I've skinned are rabbits and I used to use some knives that you would all shake at your head at on this forum but they got the job done even if it wasn't pretty. In a survival situation who cares about pretty !!!:D
