Working on a custom order tonight for a fellow Fiddleback owner.

I've done one of these skull carvings before .. but it still gets me excited when I see it coming together. too cool for school!

The light and dark shading of the carving is very well done. It adds that 3rd dimensional depth. Skulls are not my thing, but I admire your artistry and skill in giving the customer what he wants.

Thanks for sharing the "in-process" stage.

wow. i've worked with leather a bit (not well). and, i can't even imagine how you made it look like that. nice job.

Amazing work man; can't wait to see the finished product -- really impressive! I've never quite seen leatherwork like this and although skulls aren't my thing per se, your tooling alone is pretty damn amazing!

Thank you very much guys for the compliments. I'll be sure to post up a finished picture. Once it gets dyed, it kinda loses some of the depth of shading - but it's still a cool piece. When I have some slow time, I'll try something else. I'm not complaining about being busy, but it does detour any new creative work.

Nice sculpting Bud. Could you use two tones of dye to keep some of the skull's depth and contrast?

Here is Bud's first and original skull sheath. I happen to be the lucky recipient. When these skull sheaths reach Da Vinci/Picasso status, I'm going to be hounded by the art collectors!

It would show better with a lighter dye or if I just left it natural and allowed it to patina. This customer has asked for it to be dyed brown. It still looks cool - but some that dynamic shading effect will be lost.

lol .. Picasso?!? My work is a wee bit more symmetrical than his. brahahaa.

Good to see that sheath being used!!

Still need to make the dangler for it .. but finito-ish.

ok .. so sometimes you just need to goof off and try something different. A bio-mechanial Bone Angler ...

Absolutely Awesome Bud.
What size knife will the Bone Angler take. If it suits one of my knives " I'll take it" if it's for sale.
Cheers Mick

That's pretty damn cool man, I'll have to talk to you about maybe doing a non-human skull at some point :)
