Here's a couple of sheaths that I made and my first totally complete sheath knife. I made this knife on the cheap, I used some scrap brazilian ironwood I had laying around for the handle and some stainless rod from the hardware store. The blade is from a carpenters flatbar. I cut the ruff shape and then started grinding on my 6" benchgrinder. I finished the blade on a 1" vertical sander I bought for $40. I worked on the knife in the evenings for about 2 weeks. then finished it at my fatherin-laws shop. The sheath for this knife is the one with the rose on it. the second sheath is for a Redscorpion 6 that I got last week. Tell me what you think of the design. Please be gentle with me...:) PS-the cold steel is for size comparison.

I was only friggin kidding about being gentle with me....do you like it? Do you hate it, comeon...I'm just starting to make knives and want some feedback man! This is my first knife, tear me a new asshole if you want, there has to be some advice out there, I see alot of awesome stuff here in the gallery.
thanks in advance, Gene:confused:

I like it!!

Looks like a strong design, and well made. Bet it chops well too.

Good job!

I think it looks great! The sheath-work is not too shabby as well; especially the rose embossing.

A few questions: is the blade hardened and what are the dimensions?

Cheers.

I like the knife, but the photo doesn't do it justice. It is hard to make out any detail. I would like the sheath better with a shape that follows the profile of the blade. However, the contruction of the sheath look good. The Red Scorpion sheath looks rugged and well made.

The blade is .25" tool steel, I heated it up with a torch and dunked it in old motor oil...really scientific, I know. I just wanted to make my first knife without buying a whole bunch of supplies. Overall is 9.75" and the blade is just over 5". The sheath was made square so I could go all out on the stitching, I don't really like the shape either, but I stitched it twice on each run (double) and then doubled up again with a different color. really strong sheath, it will probubly outlast the knife! Anyways, thanks for the comments. Look for my next one, I am going to make a primative WSK out of Damascus. As soon as I find a piece big enough. I plan on getting really far out on the handle, using some stag and maybe some polished stone. I don't know yet, I'm still drawing up the sketches. My next one will get sent out for the Temper, I plan on doing as good a job as I can on it. ---EDIT--- I just priced the Damascus I would need, YEAH....maybe I won't:)
