I had planned to paddle one way or another rain or shine!
After doing a few have to get done chores I was off
The canoe is always on my truck, I have a designated pack ready for paddling at a minutes notice It was locked and loaded sitting by the back door.
Colour me gone!!
The day was one of those unsettled rainy alternately sunny, cold one minute hot the next type of days. The kind that sneak up on you then you realise -yep its Fall.Little early for these parts but no denying a season change is on the way.
I hit my usual paddling location and was off, crossed the lake and headed for my little hidey hole that Ive developed on Crownland for my use.Its a nice spot with a paddled in picnic table, flat spot for tent, fire ring, stack of firewood and thunderbox off a ways.
When I reached the spot it was lunch time Decided to put on a fire as it was raining
Pictures.Looking out towards the lake
The Whitebox stove boiling water for tea
A foucasse (bakery fresh) heating by the fire
Todays looseleaf tea-Lapsang Shouchong
Todays sharps- a DP Camper( loving that blade )with Cherry burl scales and a Yew handled older shingling hatchet, very old very nice steel no marks
Days end shot looking up lake at near dusk.
I had a very nice day.During I had to rainsuit up, put on more layers, take some off, sunglasses on then off type of day.
At one point I saw a smaller Sharpshinned hawk make an unsuccessful play at killing a Ruffed Grouse, quite a flying display altough only seconds long in duration. The grouse should be buying lottery tickets after that escape
Thanks all
