Out of all my folders, my Yojimbo 2 scares me. On more than one occasion, I have poked and cut myself by not being careful while playing with it but that's out of carelessnes and it's a given. You have to be careful when wearing light, loose shorts and having it clipped to your pocket.

The detent that holds blade shut when closed is not as strong as the PM2. I noticed the loose fabric of my shorts getting wedged in between the bottom of the handles and catching the tip of the blade and slightly opening up the blade. Last night, I was in the crapper and when I was finished doing my business, I was pulling up my shorts and my Yojimbo 2 bit me.

It was so clean. When I lifted up my shorts, I was already expecting to see blood and sure enough, it was running down my leg and all over the rug. It left about a 3/8" gash on top of my shin and was prettty deep. My bathroom looked like a crime scene. Be careful out there. The Yojimbo 2 bites the hand that feeds it!!!

No problems getting bit yet here
Ill make sure to stay careful!
Really appreciate the blade on the Yojimbo

Interesting, because I would say my Yo 2's detent is literally 2x as strong as any of the 3 Para 2's I've owned. Maybe you got one that's way on the weak side. That was my first impression when I first opened it.

My yojimbo has a nice stiff detent. This is my third one, none had a loose detent.

oh yeah forgot to mention that my Yojimbo 2 detent is stronger than my Para 2 as well

Weird. One of my friends also has a Yojimbo 2 and the detent on his is as weak as mine.

Neither of my yojimbo 2's are easy to open. I also find my para2 opens a lot easier than the yoyo

I wouldn't carry the yojimbo if the detent was not somewhat stiff. That blade design would rip you up. I remember reading about the great knife maker Mike Snody who suffered a really good cut from his spyderco ronin (which is very similar) he helped design and build. The design is meant to really leave a bad bite!

It's something I just have to be careful with now. I wouldn't wear it going to bed for the fear of waking up in a pool of blood. Whenever I pull it out of my pocket, I make it a habit to curl my index finger around the spine of the blade while pinching the handles so it doesn't open up.

Are you carrying it Tip down or something? If it's tip up in your right front pocket, I don't see how it can open anyways with the spine of the blade against your pocket. You might want to check and make sure all the screws are night, if the liner screws are loose enough that might make the detent loose. It's unlikely but worth checking.

wait... hope you guys would clear things up. just what problems does the yojimbo have, if any, when used as an edc.

ermm... yeah, planning on getting one.

You shouldn't have any problems if it has a strong detent that keeps the blade closed.
