...ok, I got a little silly but I thought this knife deserved a lanyard of some sort and what says Zombie Apocalypse better than skulls! This pattern of Schatt & Morgan struck me as more sinister and less a Cottan Sampler as it is marketed as. ATS-34...and sharrrrrrp!

Sinister is the word. No doubt this knife is a powerful cutter. While waiting for a zombie invasion, I believe any sammich will fall dead struck (and cut in 4) as soon as you deploy that remarkable sheepfoot blade. I'm not a sammich but I feel deadstruck all the way by its inherent power.

Cool lanyard! Love the bone on that S&M... just hope you don't have to stab any zombies. ;)

I love that knife and lanyard. But I don't know if I want a small folder for fighting brain eating zombies. But thanks for sharing your creation

That's actually good strategery. I'm guessing that zombies will get hip to all the toxic green implements rather quickly. They'll never see it coming from Granpa's 'ol slippie. :D

LOL! Good thinking! :D

How have you liked ATS-34? I've seen the steel and wondered about it. Is it durable? Can it hold an edge for a while?

I have a number of knives made with ATS-34. Have had them for years. Its a very good steel. Its more toothy than 1095 or D2 which is common in slipjoints. It holds an edge very well. I think it keeps a usable edge longer than 1095 and D2. I think D2 can get more keen. Its considered and exotic in slipjoints but has been used in one handers for over a decade.

ATS-34 is made by the Japanese company Hitachi. It has the same composition as 154CM. It holds an edge noticeably better than 440C and significantly better than 1095.
