My ZT0200 tears my pocket apart!

Anyone find a fix for this? I can't carry my 0200 anymore. I carried it 2-3 times in the same pants (work pants), and it has all but destroyed the pocket in just that short amount of time. I can't imagine if I tried to use this knife for EDC. Is there anything that I can do?

Sand down the G-10 under the pocket clip.

+1
Or, if you prefer, there's also a mod where you apply some sandable epoxy under the clip, let it dry, sand it and paint it.

I dont think the zt200 is a edc knife but I've been wearing mine to work twice a week for the last 6 months and my work pants (dickies) show no wear.

Do you have a lanyard attached to it? If so just drop it in your pocket and pull it out with the lanyard. I had the same problem with my 0200.

What kind of work do you do that you're taking your knife out of your pocket that much?

I'm a bartender at a country club, and when it gets slow (December & January aren't huge golf months), I play with my knife a lot :)

you can take off the clip, put it in a clamp and bend it away from where the scale would be a little. You can try doing that with it on with just your hands. Hard to get just right though.

This seems to be a good idea. I haven't tried this with a ZT 0200 but I have done this with several folders. Huge difference.

Damn, I've been looking at the ZT200 as my next knife. I still think I'll get it, though...

I wouldn't worry too much about it. There seems to be little consistency in how tight the clip is even within the same model. I have an 0302 and the clip works surprisingly well. Also, the textured/3d G10 used in those models is less abrasive, so all things being equal, it will actually be kinder on your jeans than a clip, equally tight, on another knife, like, say, a Spyderco Military.

And, if it does turn out to bother you, you can just bend it a little away and fix it manually. Or get STR to make you one of his excellent titanium low riders.

Sidenote: the 0302 has the same clip (and similar scale texture) as the 0200, so it should be a good sample.

Sand the G-10 using some 100 grit sandpaper

Bend the clip out slightly.

These two will fix ripped pants. I haven't had any problems with ZT's eating my pants though.

What I did with my ZT 0301 was to take the clip off and carry the knife in a horizontal belt-sheath ....(The Leatherman nylon sheath for the Surge fits perfectly.).

Another proof for how tough a ZT 0200 is. It's so destructive, even when closed, and in your pocket ! :D

I just bent my clip out a little, wear doesn't seem to be an issue (I only carry it for a few weeks a year though).
