[h=2]MYB - July 2015[/h]
The idea is simple. Move your body. Get fitter.

Between the dates of June 1 and June 30, the challenge is to earn 50 Becker Points. Points can be earned in the following fashion:

old version:
1 mile (1.6 km) on foot = 1 Becker Point
4 miles (6.4 km) road cycling = 1 Becker Point
2 miles (3.2 km) mountain biking = 1 Becker Point
1 mile (1.6 km) swimming = 6 Becker Points

updated version:
1 mile (1.6 km) on foot = 1 Becker Point
3 miles (4.8 km) road cycling = 1 Becker Point
2 miles (3.2 km) mountain biking = 1 Becker Point
1 mile (1.6 km) swimming = 4 Becker Points

If you just do one thing, you'll need to hoof it 50 miles, or road bike 150 (new (was 200 miles)), or mountain bike 100 miles, or swim 12.50 miles (new (was 8.3 miles)). But you can combine items to build toward 50 Becker Points in any fashion you choose. Honor system in play.
This thread will be the place where people report in on their progress.
So.....get your arse - erm, bum moving and enjoy those callouses!

Starting it off with a 21 mile road ride in ME last weekend, though it certainly seemed like an MTB ride.....

A view of Damariscotta Lake at the end of the road to Camp Kieve. Don't let that small stretch of nice looking pavement fool you. I lost a filling or two on the other 20.9 miles.

7 BP to start it off.

I'll play, backpacked 50 miles (give or take a few) across philmont between July 1st and July 6.

He was our view from philmont base camp

So does this mean I win?

33 mile road ride this evening. Hit 31.2 mph - going into a 20 mph corner! Started out feeling like I had no legs - then seemed to find them. Not bragging, but I was pretty happy with 19.1 mph average for 30 miles (not including the going in and out of town part).

7 + 11 = 18 BP.

No. No one wins. Get your broken ankle fixed and keep it moving ;).

Nice pic, though. Where are the woods? Hikes around here always include dense forests and ankle twisting rocks and roots.

33 mile road ride today. Saw a couple of deer wandering around.....

18+11=29

Holy crap! MYB is way back in page 4? This is just terrible....oh well. Not like I've been doing a hell of a lot.

July 19th: 36 mile ride. About 4 miles in a guy with MA plates tried to pass me in a 15 mph corner - I was going 20+ - and didn't succeed. He was pissed off that I held my line and wouldn't let him pass - I had the right of way anyways. He then broke the law a few more times trying to get me to pull over so he could let me have a piece of his mind (speeding, not allowing proper R.O.W (gotta be at least 3 feet) speeding again, slamming on the brakes and cutting me off....) and I wouldn't engage with him until we came upon the PD (public safety) driveway and motioned for him to follow me in. Not surprisingly, he gave up harassing me. Screwed up my head for the rest of the ride, tho. Wished he'd have pulled over. I had a knife in my jersey pocket.....not that I would have used it, but....

Anyway.

July 21st: 33 mile ride with a friend.

Today: 33 mile ride hoping to beat the weather....that never came. Glad I went out despite the predictions of strong thunderstorms.

12 + 11 + 11 + 29 = 63 BP's to date.

Where is everybody? Gunyon's posting pics of his new shoes, but hasn't participated in this thing HE started in months. Maybe I should come up with a prize or something....

12 + 11 + 11 + 29 = 63 BP's to date.

37 mile ride yesterday. Let's hope I have some company in here next month.

12.3 + 63 = 75.3.

Should be getting a ride in Friday morning, weather permitting. Which I hope it is, because I took the day off to go to my eldest daughter's final swim meet of the year - outdoors.

I did a 4 mile backpacking camping trip over the weekend up to lake Lillian in Snoqualmie Pass, can I get 4 points for that?

I've taken July off. Not from moving my butt, but from logging it.
4th to 11th I was on vacation in the Caribbean. Did a ton of walking and swimming, but didn't track any distances.
21st to 25th was camping in the Sierra. Tons of walking, hiking, and swimming. No tracking.
Now I'm moving.
I haven't been walking every night like I used to, but I get them in sometimes and seem to be keeping busy.

I take terrible pictures and prefer to enjoy my time outdoors and forget to try. But I'll see if my daughter took any worth posting. It's been an amazing month.

Sounds like it....I'm totally envious. I haven't taken a (real) vacation since I don't remember when.

I wasn't trying to browbeat anyone....I wuz jest lonely in here.

Best. Plan. Yet.
Presumably they'll be, ah.....you know, brownies, wink wink....

Whatever. You have 1.5 days left then I expect you to drop for 100 and run a fast mile.....to the donut shop.

Nah. Just regular brownies. But I did put some ice cream on them! Vanilla even.

And I'm going to need a bit more prep time to run anything fast - even if it is to the donut shop.

36 mile ride this morning. Finished at the German café with a gross (large) toffee lovers iced coffee and a breakfast sandwich, watching the world go by.

12 + 75.3 = 87.3 to finish the month. Which means I rode over 200 miles.....which is abot half of what I used to do a decade ago. Oh well.
