Any experience with this brand? I am a sailor in the US Navy and am interested in the Model L300, Lightknife® Navigator. Another knife I have heard good reviews on here is the spyderco pacific salt. I work as the Officer of the Deck on the bridge and think the red - led feature on the night might save me from having to keep track of both a knife and light on separate lanyards (esential on a dark bridge) , but I don't want something gimicky. I constantly use redlights to look at charts/navigation aids while standing watch on a darkened bridge.
Does anyone know what steel is better for edge holding between 440 C stainless and H1 stainless? I do not intend to use it as a dive knife, but it will be exposed to the elements (the beater CRKT M-16 I have is a rust-bucket after 2 years carried on board ship.) The knives are comparably priced $60 for the spyderco, $70 for the myrchin, so this is not a factor. Also, I really don't plan on using the marlin spike on the myrchin (I am not a Boatswain's Mate) And I like that the Spyderco is somewhat bigger (I like some heft to my knife), but admit I don't think there is any reason I need a longer than 3" blade.
Can't decide...
thanks in advance!
