I'm heading down to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for vacation and was wondering if anyone knows of a good knife store in that area. Somewhere that sells higher end production knives, maybe customs? Thanks

(Sorry if this is in the wrong forum or not allowed)

I go to that area every year. I don't get a chance to go to "local" stores since my family always wants to go to the tourist destination malls like Barefoot Landing and Broadway on the Beach. There are no good knife stores in those places, so you can eliminate them if you're just looking for good knife shops.

There's a Dick's Pawn on Rte 17 north of Myrtle Beach (I can't remember if it's in North Myrtle or maybe Little River. They have a big eBay presence and you never know what you can find in a place like that. Good luck with your hunt - and post the names/locations of any good knife shops you might find so I will know where to go next year!

Barefoot Landing is your best bet, and as far as the pawnshop on 17, I never got anything nice that I couldn't get cheaper somewhere else.

He had some BMs and a few autos but they were over priced, BareFoot Landing sells knock offs but if ya want cheap autos they're alright.

I always say "Dick's Pawn is proud of thier stuff". We usually go to MB 2-3 times per year and I try to go to Dick's Pawn at least once. I haven't ever bought anything there. Always interesting stuff there, but overpriced. In all the years I've been going to MB I haven't found a nice kinfe shop. but if anybody knows of one I'll definatly check it out.

I'm down in the MB/NMB area 3-4 times a year as well. Unfortunately there are no stores that exactly fit your parameters. However, there are a few other options:

Dick's Pawn- They are overpriced like the others have said but you could still look.

Boulineau's Hardware- Hwy 9/Sea-Mountain Highway in Cherry Grove.

Little River Flea Market- N. Hwy 17- There is a knife shop in one of the huts, plus a few other vendors occasionally have knives at their tables or in their buildings.

Bass Pro Shop/Colonial Mall- N. Hwy 17. They have BM's, Kershaw, Spydies, Etc..

The Dragon/Barefoot Landing- N. Hwy 17. Mostly overpriced knock-offs

I've driven by there lots'o times but I never pulled in. I think the hut with all the hubcaps kind of turns me off about the place. Maybe I'll give it a try next time I'm in the area. Thanks.

There is a gun shop just as you enter Murrells Inlet. It's off of Kings Highway on the right. Don't remember the name but they usually have some BM's, Surefire lights, and even a custom Ryan Wilson or two.
