Myrtle Christmas everyone! 😊
Finished up some scales and backspacers for the sweet Spyderco Myrtle.

The Myrtle may look weird but it's a really awesome knife. Fits really well in the hand.
Thick blade that has a full flat grind that slices really well. The custom pocket clip works great and it sits nice in the pocket.
Finger cutout makes it easy to disengage the lock. No stick at all.
Only thing I don't like is that you can only thumb open it. You can't get to the hole from the other side to middle finger flip it open like I usually like to do. That would be the only thing I would change if I could. However the blade sits deep into the handle for a slim profile, making it not possible.
Otherwise it's an overall awesome knife. If you are on the fence about it, I'd say give it a try.

Cool, merry Christmas to you as well! The Myrtle always caught my eye because of the funky look.
Very glad to read your review and that you like it.
The thing that is holding me off the most, besides price, is how to sharpen that blade shape. Any experience?

Middle one looks great, really catches my eye, slick work.

Merry Christmas, by the way.

I've been intrigued by the Myrtle for awhile. I like the blade, looks like a winner for breaking down boxes, etc.
But like you said, I am not thrilled when I see designs with occluded Spydieholes on the right side...

Usually when I have to sharpen weird shaped blades I sharpen one part of it..then reposition the blade to sharpen the changed shape/transition part. I then go back a little bit when sharpening the second part. Like I won't start where I left off on the first part. I go back a bit so it all looks as one bevel and it is. So for this blade it would be 3 different positions. That's just how I do it with my wicked edge. Would it be a pain..absolutely. easy to mess up, absolutely. But like anything just take your time and don't rush it. If you don't feel comfortable doing it or you just know you aren't good at those kinds of things..send it to someone to do it for you.

Thank you fellas and I hope you all had a great Christmas/Holiday!

Thank you! Yeah I wish I could use the spydiehole from the titanium side :(
The hole on mine is really sharp and it's tearing up my thumb. So I'm going to round the edge of it. Some of the Taichung knives have some really sharp spydieholes!

The Myrtle has been on my list for a while. I don't understand why it isn't more popular.
