I'm speculating that it is not gold, or that it is gold plated. A gold bar that is 7" x 3.5" x 1" weighs about 27 lbs. This item appears larger and weighs less. It also appears to be modern milling.

I'm guessing that it is a modern decorative adornment to a grave, crypt or cemetery feature.
