Mystery axe markings?

I’ve been trying to figure out the markings on these two axes for a while now with no luck so I am posting here for help.

The first axe head I got at an estate sale from a guy who had old logging equipment and antiques. The only markings on the axe head are underneath the pole and it appeared to look kind of like K6 but not right. Could be a foreign marking I’m not sure

The second hatchet head I got from an estate sale also. It had a thick patina and Rust, hung on a homemade handle. I found the makers mark or stamp at the end by the pole what I can make out it appears to look like WEQ or O then U ** those letters are to pitted to see then ley. So maybe something like Wequ**ley or Weou**ley but I haven’t found any thing like it.

Can anybody help me identify these? They both seem to be good steel and had a aged patina on them before. Thanks!

I can't identify them, but I can tell you that first is definitely American.
That's an older pre 1970's Michigan pattern with a nicely convexed cheeks.

Thanks. It had a nice temper line when I took it out of the vinegar. No knowing the maker of an axe drives me nuts.
