Mystery Fairbairn...?

Okay...I've had this blade tucked away in my sock drawer for ages. I think since '86, when I traded it for an Army-issue field jacket.

Anyway, it's the spitting image (ha, unintentional stabby knife pun) of a Pattern 2 Fairbairn-Sykes. It's very well made, not a low-budget knockoff. Unfortunately, there are no identifying marks or stamps anywhere on the knife or the sheath (black leather with brass chaping at the blade end, but not flared at the top like the normal leg sheath).

The blade is anodized (I guess) BROWN, though...anyone got any info/theories as to the provenance of such a knife?
