I know, you are wondering why I called it Mystery. Thats what I call this type of can damascus. Its made up of off cuts and cut outs on accordian fold billets. I save the bandsaw swarf as well. I use it as powder in the can. So there you go :D

Specs: BL 5 1/2", 140mm. OAL 11 1/4", 285mm. Thickness at the ricasso .1925, 4.87mm. It weighs in at 6 1/2 oz, so its very, very fast in the hand. Balance point at the guard.
Sorry for the quality of the pics. Thanks for looking and comments welcome.
Cheers Keith

Nice work. I like that a lot. Handle looks comfy and the Damascus is unique but not garish.

Wicked knife, and I love the reclaimed damascus.
What do you use to smelt it into a billet?

I am curious about the process. Tell us how. I have an idea, but pics/story would help.

Thanks guys,
Daizee and tinkerer. If you have a look at the first photo you will see a section of rhs. I put a liner of stainless steel foil on the inside of the tube, (it has a plate welded on the bottom). Fill the can with the off cuts that are seen in the photo. Pour in the swarf (powder) tap it, shake it until the powder fills the voids. When its full I weld another plate with a handle on the top. Place it in the forge and slowly bring it up to welding temp and weld it under the power hammer. Once I've done the initial weld I cut the can of the billet. Reweld draw out cut and restack to make sure there are no voids in the billet. Then I can forge the blade and finnish it out. Hope this makes sense :D
Cheers Keith
