I spotted this knife in a video a while back, and I can't figure out the model or who makes it. All I can tell is that it's a framelock with what looks like a modified reverse tanto/wharncliffe shaped blade. It sort of reminds me of some of the Vox knives I've seen, but the thumbhole is different.

Sorry for the pic quality, but I zoomed in on a screenshot in order to make It easier to identify.

I think you've stumped us.

After mucking around in image search with "cleaver", "wharncliffe", "framelock", and some others, I can't find anything that quite matches. It's not a Gerber Flatiron, because the angle's wrong on the front of the blade, and the pommel shape is different. But it doesn't quite match anything else I can find, either.

It might help if you can give us anything about the knife, or the video you found it in, as long as you can kinda point us in the right direction without linking directly to it or giving the exact title, especially if it's some studio's intellectual property. Gotta be real careful in this brave new world.

It was in a video from Joshua Fields Milburn of the Minimalists. He was just talking about the junk drawer in his kitchen, and you see a quick shot of the knife. Sadly you don't ever see it out of the drawer.

I was hoping the pocket clip might provide a clue, but I can't find any brands with those kinds of markings.

It shouldn't be an issue linking to the video, but if it is I'll gladly take the link down.

I got a slightly clearer look at it using the video, and the marking on the clip looks like four Xs: XXXX. Could also be a stylized helix, like a DNA strand.

That didn't get me anywhere, but perhaps it will help someone else. :)

I thought that too. At first I thought it might be a second's marking, but the only brand I know that uses the X's is Kershaw, and that doesn't look like anything they've ever made.

I don't recognize it either.

Odd spot for a lanyard hole too.

I'm stumped, and believe me, I looked, and looked some more.

I just checked Google, and it appears the guy has a Twitter account. So if someone REALLY wanted to know, and is a member of Twitter, I assume they could ask. I'm not a member of Twitter.

Ti framelock, thumbhole opener, wharncliffe/reverse tanto blade... Could it be the mythical Yobenza?

I'm not a Twit, so I can't ask.

Even though it hard tell it looking at the pic, the pocket clip looks to have CRKT on it. Reminds me of the CRKT pilar with the blade shape and Vox style thumb hole, with a slightly different pocket clip than what you would see on it.

As StuntDouble StuntDouble mentions, the only company that I know of that uses a "XXXX" mark on their knives is Kershaw (or ZT), which denotes a blem/2nd, but this marking is usually placed on the blade not on the clip (which can be easily removed/replaced), where you'll usually find Kershaw's brand name.

However, this knife doesn't look like any Kershaw or ZT that I've ever seen, especially w/the oblong hole in the blade, which looks more like a hole that you'd find on a Vox or Olamic blade but I doubt these "minimalist" people would ever spend that kind of money on a kitchen drawer knife.

So, it's probably a clone/knock-off of some type of absolutely NO IMPORTANCE! ;)

I was thinking the same thing, that they likely wouldn't spend too much money on a knife and it's likely a clone or knockoff, BUT I STILL GOTTA KNOW!

I just dig the design and lines.
