Mystery German Knife Company

I inherited an old knife from my dad but for the life of me I can't find out any information about the company that made it.

The tang is stamped with I. HOFFMAN over TRADEMARK over GERMANY and includes what is apparently the company logo which appears to be a rat to me.

Any information would be appreciated.

You'll get a lot more traction if you have the mods pull this to either the "Traditional" or "Bernard Levine" forums.
