Hi guys. I have a Katana, and supposedly it's WW2. My fiance got it from a friend, and says that it has trace DNA on it. Itdoesn't have any signs of forging ie. folds grain, but I know a lot of general army Katana were poured molds at that time. It's a full length, and was in a set with a longer one and a shorter one. It's just taking up space, so I want to know if I should sell it, or clean it up. I don't want to do anything to it, in case it is authentic. Can anyone help me? I can't afford a membership, so can't post pictures, but if anyone can even point me in a general direction, it would be a huge help. Thanks.

Welcome!

Plenty of folks around here can let you know if about it's authenticity and may be able to date it appropriately. Pictures are a must though.

You do not need to pay for a membership post pictures. Go to a free photo hosting site, such as Photobuck or Imgur, and upload the pictures. Photobucket provides the IMG links needed to post them up on the forum. Just copy and paste those.

To ask about it's value, you will need to purchase a membership. Gold at the minimum to sell/inquire about value.

Can't wait to see pics!

You don't have to be a paid member to post pics. Unless somethings changed?

Look for a local antique dealer. They can usually steer you in a right direction.

The DNA story is sword folklore (usually). Dont do anything to the sword except keep it as is and oiled.

From your brief description I'm leaning in the direction of reproduction. Its rare for unique antiques to ne in sets as you described. Plus your story is a classic. Not questioning your honesty, just saying that the story is very similar to a hundred other sword passings I've heard.
