Mystery knife & unknown black lines. help?

I have 2 questions
1. I bought this kabar off of my girlfriends uncle a while back, and I cant find this thing for sale anywhere. So I was wondering if it was a discontinued model?
2. After i striped the coating off and got rid of some rust and shined it with some sandpaper and polish i noticed that these black line did not want to come out,
can anyone tell me what they are and why they happen or how to get rid of them

It is 1253 Short Black Recurve blade.
Yes, it is discontinued quite a few year ago.

The information above is correct, it is the 1253 Recurve. As for the lines they should not impact the performance or durability of the knife. My guess would be they are simply pieces of the powder coat that refused to come off. We hope you enjoy it; let up know if you have any other questions.
