Does anyone have any idea what this "knife" is supposed to be??? found in the bottom of one of my sister in laws drawers. Looks like a combination bottle opener, serrated knife (bread??), and a strainer. I have never seen anything like this.....

What are you doing looking in the bottom of your SIL's drawers?? :)

That could be difficult to explain! Lol .

As for the op knife photo, I’ve seen some similar that were called a kitchen helper, chefs tool and other names in local stores on the merchandise racks. Quite novel! Lol.

Looks like a muppet knoife from la la land

Lol just messing with you. What an odd design....
What's the little hookamajig for on the back of the knoife? Looks like the thing on folders you use to snag on your pocket while pulling it out to open it quickly

Maybe its the super ultra bread and butter knife 2000. Use the serrated side to slice a hunk o bread, use the other side to slice a slab o butter, then use the super wide face of the blade for exxxxtreme spreading

Oh Man .... we have to drag your mind out of .... well, wherever it is! :-) .

Sister in law found it, sent picture to my wife thinking I might know what the thing is - totally innocent :-)

I think the little doohickey is supposed to be a bottle opener....

I think it's from the 70's made in Japan, saw one and a similar thing more catered to barbecuing at Goodwill.

I really don't know what their intention was but me and some other guy who was digging through the cutlery bins had a good laugh.

"Cheese Knife" (and a poorly designed one, at that.)
Forget sharpening it for her.
Soft cheese will quickly dull it.

My mum had one when I was a rug rat.

Looks like someone had a bunch of thoughts while drinking just a little too much and said that would work!! SMH.

Yes, it's a combination tool from a 60's - 70's kitchen knife set. These are usually marked as for cakes and casseroles, and similar, but I suppose you could use it for all types of serving.

I vote "fish knife". The serrated side is for scaling, the curved side (if sharp) is for lifting the fillets. The hook definitely looks to be a cap lifter. The round hole at the tip is the eye of the fish, the "crescent" holes mimick the fish's scales. And look at the fish tail handle ! A novelty kitchen knife. OK for scaling, though.

It looks like something Tom Brown would have designed for his home kitchen. ;)

Well, it could be an overhead underslung recapitulater. Either that or a Hollywood prop for old 1950s teenager gangland movies. But as a retired sharpener, I would just send it out to the competition...

Found it, that model was a Warco Combination Slicing and Pan Draining Knife -

Warco apparently made lots of different knife tools. Totally new brand to me.
