I guess around the beginning of the summer, was tooling around on the internet late at night, and checked out Brian's website.

He had opened his books and created a custom configurator for The Hurricane flipper with a choice of upswept Persian or tanto style blades. I selected a Persian blade and built the knife around that.

Got an email last weekend letting me know that the knife is ready and I picked it up from the post office yesterday....It's lovely and solid and everything that I have come to expect from Brian and more.

It locks up like a bank vault, flips like it's gliding on butter, and feels great in the hand. Am jaded and unimpressed with the vast amount of wares that are shown on the market these days, but this knife really gets my heart racing.

Specs:

4" S35VN Persian upswept blade, bead blasted stonewash finish
5 1/8" 6Al4V handle, machined and anodized in a faux "japanese wrap" style
Internal machined "lightening cuts" to keep it nicely balanced

If you notice from the photos, the back spacer is a "medium blue" , while the scale color is closer to "buy me blue/purple-blue". It's a color that I fell in love with back in the mid 80's. Brian's selection software allowed you to choose the EXACT colors you wanted for the finish, and he came pretty damned close to nailing every choice.

There are many knives, this one is mine.

Hopefully you can see the color difference between the backspacer and scales.

Very nice buddy, great looking folder. :)

I did get with him after you gave me his contact info a year or two ago but there was no fruition... :(

Oooh, that IS nice! Congratulations, STeven, that's one hell of a overall package. Very striking.

Reach out to him again, Dudley, feel free to liberally use my name...in this case, it's actually a good thing!

Brian packs a lot of blade into his handles. Very nice, Steven, congrats.

I also agree with this "Am jaded and unimpressed with the vast amount of wares that are shown on the market these days"

Mine will be here on Monday. This is the pic Brian sent me. Hand rubbed satin Persian. Have another one coming with a wave profile handle and tanto blade also with hand rubbed satin.

I'm a big fan of Sharpbydesign. They're all buttery smooth.

That's very nice Kohai999, I can see the color difference. The fine machining patterns give a liquid sense of the metal being removed. Like looking at a nice knot almost lets you see the hands tying it, except in this case it's the huge concentrated force in the tiny bit that cut the titanium so perfectly.

Awesome!

Brian is a great guy and makes fantastic knives. We've had some discussions on how I would want a hurricane optioned.

STeven, that is a work of art! Congrats!! I too CAN see the color difference between the back spacer, and the blue on the frame.

Steven your heart is racing for the right reasons . I am very impressed and love the interior detailing
echoing the surface - a beautiful distinction. Craft and art and utility in one splendid package. Good for you.
