Hi folks. New to the forum and have already gleaned good info from the posts.
But, I've done lots of searches and no real answer for this one. Bought older
(swedged and polished main blade and 2 pin handle) Boker Tree Barlow. Is
493 and I think earlier than the 493R in Cooper packaging I also have.
This thing is next to impossible to open either blade. I spent days with all the
various oils and lubs and cleaners with no results. Finally did the hammer on
the tilted blade and anvil thing. Gosh, hated to do that. Sure is shiny and new
looking. This probably is the reason why it was never used!
I had light showing between the liners and still unable to work the blades. At
this point I suspect the pin will need to be pushed out and the blades or springs
reworked.
Has anyone encountered this before with this brand?
J.
