How the crap does this thing work

naklok.gif

I see the stop pin, and where i assume a locking pin would be at the back there, but i cant.... uh... i dunno

I think i heard someone said it's like the Spyderco compression lock?

It's like a liner lock on top of the knife. To disengage the liner lock you are pressing a button which pushes the liner over.

What?

It's a linerlock that holds the contact area at a 45 degree angle?
No pin that holds the liner down?
Wouldn't that weaken it and bend it over time?

I take back what I said before. I did some more reading and realized I was looking at it the wrong way.

Think of a knife with a lock back. You have a cut out in the tang of the blade which a hook comes down and locks into. The Nak-Lok is a similar concept, you have a cut out in the tang of the blade and a hook that comes in the from the side in the form of a liner. By pushing on the button you push the hook out of the tang which allows the blade to close. It's like a lock back and a liner lock got together and made a baby.

I wish I could find a decent shoki variation nearby...I'm very interested in the gold class version, but I'm not going to take a 350 dollar risk on it.

Can somebody that has a Nak-Lok knife tell me if it can be "flicked" closed like an axis lock?
