My Kershaw Nakamura arrived from 1stopknives.com the other day and I am very impressed. This is the first knife I think that came out of the box "hair poppin' sharp" (and now I really understand the term).

The other Kershaw's I own; Leek and Chive, similarly came out of the box extremely sharp? It must be something unique to Kershaw.

I have been considering getting a Kershaw Nakamura as it is a truly beautiful looking knife (from the pictures I've seen.) Wonder how well it performs?

I bought a Splinter from 1SKS, with the cocobolo handles, and really liked it. I've been watching the Nakamura for a while now, can't decide if I should get it or not. Lets hear some reviews.

Its just too pretty at this point so I haven't worked out on it yet. Esav comented on it a couple of weeks ago stating that because the blade is actually two layers of different steel; it should be a ver fine blade.

The 2 outer layers are 420J2, a cheaper stainless for corrosion-resistance and toughness, allowing the use of VG-10, a harder steel in the core of the blade to provide a very sharp edge.

Besides the blade, the whole knife just looks elegant, with the wood handle and multimetallic bolsters.

Now that the Nakamura has been out a while and people have had time to put it through its paces, how does it hold up?

Is there any blade-play and how solid is the liner lock?

Jon

I agree with Wade in that the only bad side to the knife, if there is a bad side, would be the thumb studs. I suppose if I got really ambitious, and knew what i was doing (questionable) I would try to file them down a bit.

Other than that, a very solid yet elegant knife that keeps a fine edge.
