Ed Stafford is undertaking an extreme survival challenge. He’ll be washed up naked and alone on a desert island, south east of Fiji, with only his brain, bare hands, and a camera to keep him alive. He’ll take no food, water, clothes, knife or tools, so from the moment he arrives he is on an extraordinary race to stay alive. As man can only last three days without water and three weeks without food, Ed will attempt to survive on the island physically and mentally, for 60 days.

Ed will have to use what the uninhabited island has to offer, and his common sense, to find food, water, clothes, shelter and anything else which will keep him alive while he is marooned. Surrounded by beautiful tropical reefs Ed will also have to find a way to fish for food, while making sure he doesn’t meet any of the deadly sharks which inhabit the seas around the island. Will he also be able cope with the sweltering 30 °C temperatures, with no shelter or sun cream and then the freezing temperatures at night with no cover?

Three days without water and he dies, three weeks without food and he dies - the question is will he be able to use the skills he possesses, physically and mentally, to survive on the island for 60 days.

How will he do it? Ed's been used to roughing it before in his marathon two year trip walking the length of the Amazon river. But this time he'll have to use what the uninhabited island has to offer, and his common sense, to find food, water, clothes, shelter and anything else which will keep him alive while he is marooned.

The island is surrounded by beautiful tropical reefs, which make it look like a paradise. And provide Ed with, hopefully, a location to catch fish - if he can fashion a net or spear. However, the reef is also home to sharks which which are also looking for food.

Other things he has to contend with are 30°C days with no shelter or sun cream and the subsequent drop in temperature at night with potentially no cover, blankets or protection.

Alexander Selkirk, the man whose experiences inspired Robinson Crusoe, managed to survive for four years on his desert island - will Ed manage to thrive in similar circumstances?

Looks pretty interesting. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be checking it out. Mike

It does look interesting. But 30 degrees c is sweltering? Isn't that 86 degrees f? Let the hype begin? :)

sounds cool, but if you've read Staffords book about the Amazon walk, he's not really much of a survivalist in that sense. He can withstand hardship, but improvising with the environment is not his strong suit, he had such a hard time in the Amazon and brought a ton of gear with him :( I kinda think if that show was real it would be finding his body after a few weeks or months. Not trying to be a party pooper but I think there are better choices for that kind of show.
