I get the general impression that people like their knives naked. By naked I mean have minimum extra text and info on them. I, for one, think the less information and such the better. If I want info about a knife, ill look it up, I dont need a script of grabage on them. This is one of the reasons I love my sebenza 21 so much. One little symbol on it, and other than that it is clear of information :thumbup:

I would love if others would keep their blades clear as well, it is a huge plus to me. What do you guys think? Keep them inked up or lets get em naked? :D

Nekkid all the way! All these logos and text all over the place look cheesey.

(I'm looking at YOU sog!)

Indeed I agree that knives look better without huge lettering on the blade. A small indication of the steel and/or country or origin on the blade near the pivot is acceptable, but big text on the blade really detracts.

I like little more than a logo on my knives, I do prefer them as sterile as possible.

A small card included in the box with steel type and other materials used like CRK do is way better than etching it on the blade IMO.

Hi Thalestin -

I don't mind the small, inconspicuous print on the Kershaws, but I do not like the blade etching on "special editions" and the like - I prefer the blade to remain sterile if possible.

Really depends how it looks. Spyderco can put a lot of info on a folder without it looking like crap. Some other companies really clutter up the blade. Less is more.

Logos that look good are worth having...for example the BM butterfly is very cool. I could go without the "Mchenry williams" line on my 710 though.

I like them pure and naked.
On the other hand, in the last half of the 1900's there were lots of bowies around, with sayings, or decorative patterns etched on the blades. They are beautifull in there own way

I tend to agree. I don't mind a maker's mark, but I like it to be inconspicuous. I do not need the model of the knife heavily etched into the blade (I'm looking at you, Cold Steel).

I'm 50/50 on branding the steel type. It is valuable when a model of knife is (or has been) made with different types of steel and you need a way to tell them apart.

I don't mind steel type and country and a small logo as long as they are all small and near the pivot. Nothing else though. Like the bm bone collector logo is cheesy and ruined an nice knife IMO

A small tang stamp is enough for me, I don't care for blades with lots of text or pictures etched on them.

I just looked at my BM635 mini skirmish and it has the Benchmade logo with country of origin, a model #, a maker's mark and the blade steel. It's a little much but I wouldn't have it any other way. The markings are very tastefully done and all it is all valuable information.

Pretty much this. The model number is really handy for repair purposes, and I like the manufacture date.

I like 'em super simple. ...Benchmades with just the butterfly & tiny "USA" underneath... and the Spyderco "bug." Strider is minimalisticly elegant. Chris Reeve's "CR" logo is the "tits" as well. I pretty much completely dislike all the gaudy logos and whatnot on my RAT RC-3.

I don't mind a small, classy logo -- think Spyderco and Benchmade, and stamped/etched text on the tang is fine. I just don't like lots of marking on the blade itself.

I think it depends on the knife. Off the shelf from a knife shop is one thing, but full custom collection piece is another.

It would be a rare set of circumstances where I would want an amount of text that covers more area than about the size of a dime and discretely located.

A simple makers mark with a date code is fantastic in most cases.

Definetly. I can think of more than one knife I didn't buy becuase the manufacturer plastered their name or the name of the knife on the blade. Ugly! :barf:

Naked all the way!

Imagine the day they start to come with advertising for popcorn or something etched on the blade?
