Well....I just couldn't take the krinkle paint for more than 24 hours, so I slowly disrobed my Mistress...

Took about 3 hours using a citrus type stripper. I was afraid the blade would be too light after I removed the paint, but it's much darker than the pictures make it out to be. The shoe dye in the handles washed out a bit, but I thin they look fine now that the blade is nice and gray.

Now my question... Is rust going to be an issue like on my Sarsquatch, or is the blade now bare beautiful INFI? I have a nice coat of WD-40 on her now to keep the corrosion at bay.

Thanks Busse Combat for my new (and only) Mistress!!!!

That looks great!
Not bad at all under the coating.

My stripped FFBM doesn't experience any rust issues, but I sanded mine.

Looks like an under-coat to me. Of course, I've been wrong before ... <shrug smiley>

I don't think you've got bare INFI yet. Of course, sandpaper will get you there fast.

ADD: Oh ... hi, Foo! To minimize rust, try to minimize the surface roughness. A rough surface: 1) exposes more surface area to the environment, and 2) has too many places to capture a bit of moisture (H2O will eventually create rust).

I was just wondering about this. Thanks for sharing, it looks good to me. I don't think it is bare yet either though unless its just the pic.

Hey OP! :)

Richstag... I was just about to post a link to this in your thread.
It's surface is in MUCH better shape than my FFBM was.

I have a stripped CGFBM that will experience rust (minimal though), if water is left on the blade for more than 30 minutes or so.

I stripped a Skinny ASH, and then sanded it to 600 grit, and never had a single speck....

To be fair, the decarb (greyish) layer was what experienced the rust on the CGFBM. I have buffed most of it off, and havent had a rust issue since on that knife either....

I was thinking the same thing. If that is all I have to deal with then I don't have much work at all. Great news!

If it don't wear off during love/abuse it shouldn't come off at all. What are you doing? Trying to make a combat tool look pretty? Beat her like the bitch she is and her beauty will shine by herself!!

This is not a sexist comment but a heartfelt knife comment.

That gray layer is typical under coated INFI, don't think it is an undercoat, or else the stripper would have removed it. I don't know if it is the rust-prone decarb, as I never left mine in that state.

Right-on bro. ;) It is not decarb and will not rust under any normal conditions. It is a very cool dark gray layer of something that I'd call 'primer'.

I have striped and abused the hell out of a SAR5 and a NMSFNO.... the 'primer' does not wear off easily (if at all).

I'll go ahead and show you guys a pic of my nekkid INFI... just don't judge me for posting nekkid pics on a public forum!!!:p :D

I know the pic makes the edge look all jacked up in the last photo, but I assure you it isn't (it's resin from the mesquite wood). The edge remains a flawless convex capable of shaving hair from the limb of your choice....

That's the color there KD!!! (Nice Knife BTW) I couldn't get the color right in my pictures, but you nailed it!!!

I really like the way this knife turned out!!!

mhawg...I'll do my best to take your words to heart, but it will be a change for me not to treat a lady politely!!!

Thanks for the info guys!!! And don't mind "Mr. Tacti-Cool", there's a story behind his post.;)

Take Care,

Stump
