So I've been fiddeling around with pants for the SS Nalgene bottle and nesting cup:
The fastex strap on the back lets me clip it to my Murse (man purse), or to my belt (or anywhere else).
There are two attached pockets, the larger for food and coffee(!), and the smaller red for fuel tablets.

The single strap-and-buckle closure works one-handed, and keeps everything out of the way when removing or replacing the bottle

A strap around the other side lets me get way too carried away clipping-all-and sundry to it (like my camera case) :o :

Truly a work in progress  ...

I just slip the bottle into a elastic carrier, and clip in on the pack, or on my belt, with a large S-Biner clip.

Out for a quick stroll on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) it occured to me that a cup of coffee would be just the thing.

Rather than use the fuel tablets, the Siegle SAR 4 gnawed off some pitchwood:

The metal match on my keychain ignited it, and three rocks support the cup over the flames:

Close up of the double pocket; food bars in back, coffee up front!

Still a few things to work out, but it just may turn out to be a nice bit of kit.

The "Humangear" lid nicely transforms a wide-mouth bottle to an easy to drink from canteen.

Stay tuned; more carry options to come...

True, true; simple IS better - but were I to adopt the simple approach it would greatly impinge on the entertainment value of my silly ideas :o   ...!

R-8 this a great set up. Being a big fan of the Maxpedition holder, your's takes it one step beyond that. Coupled with your Steelheart rig and you could survive the timber as long as was needed.

Nice setup and a cool looking bottle. I almost bought one when I found out last night that my local dicks sporting goods didn't have kleen kanteens. Settled on a regular nalgene since I hadn't even seen the stainless ones before. Even the plastic nalgene is beter than my flaky-linered sigg though...

Do all those bottle accesories fit the plain nalgenes?

Nice set up River-8. Well done. I use the Max bottle holder with attached gear. These set ups are compact and have just about all you need for day trips/hikes.

i dig it....i used to just sling some 550 thru and hold it on a shoulder...but its quite bouncy at quicker paces. ive tried to recreate that setup with those old jansport water bottle hip carriers...no luck. i think for the weight is worth the comfort! nice job.

Which carrier is that? Nice looking setup, been using the Maxpedition 10x4 as well myself.

Looking good, those pouches are handy. Just beware of the snap and velcro back clip ones or put on an extra tie with paracord. I've lost a couple of pouches snapped to molle webbing in the past because of quick release type strap failures.

One thing that's been lacking in this set-up is a cup lid.
Turns out Abbott has a pretty slick answer  !

Currently chewing on Pirouettes...!!

It's really tasty as far as solutions go. Even of the lid didn't fit, I wouldn't have been too upset about spending the money.

I pretty sure River-8 made it himself :), at least one other member was able to re-create the design by looking at the posted pics
