Here are some of the folks that currently live and work at BirGorkha. They send a heartfelt "Namaste" to all forumites, customers, pals, nephews, and to "Bena" -- that's me.

I am surprised at the size of the vegetables but shouldn't be. The land in the Kathmandu Valley is some of the most fertile in the world.

Matthew, I was wonder the same thing and I just don't know for sure.

I just counted 17 people who live in BirGorkha and that's about right so Gelbu tells me (around 20). The young, single apprentices sleep downstairs right in the factory. Not the Ritz but everybody keeps warm and dry and it is all free.

Maybe they use those for fuel for the forges?
Do they normally use wood, coal, or charcoal?

Tom

No, not for the forges. We use charcoal. When Vikash gets back from shipping I'll ask him what these bundles are. He grew up on a farm so maybe he knows something I don't.
