Name change?

Not sure were to ask this. Being Buck is main reason i’m on this forum i’ll ask here.
How can i change my name to a cool nickname like everyone else? Is that for paid members only?
 
When I signed up in 2001, I thought your user name was suppose to be your real name. Well, I didn't want to use my real name, so being a smart, clever person, I used my initials. :rolleyes: How's that for a "cool nickname". :D
 
I think the original question has been answered, so I don't mind drifting away from the topic. I wonder if, not just on this forum but on all social media, there would be fewer problems with civility if people used their real names.

Good idea, but since there would be no way to enforce it, the same problem would exist. People would still use an alias, be it a nickname, or a friend's or deceased relative's name.
And, let's be honest, even if there were a way to make everyone use their real name, some people are jerks, and would still be uncivil. :(
 
I believe they, at some point, attempted to do this with Facebook. I’m not sure it made much difference, as the cyber bullying these kids today endure is just ridiculous. I think the “hiding” is behind the screen, not so much the name on the profile/page.

I’m glad to have grown up in an era with no social media, no widespread public internet use, and no text messages.
