I remember reading a post about these cane knives where they had a strange name.

For some reason I seem to remember the name being "bull ___" or some other name that may have started with "B".

I tried looking thru any threads that I thought might have the information but came up empty.

Any help?

Thank you for the replies.
Have you ever tried to remember something but the answer keeps eluding you?

In specific that particular billhook most resembles a Finnish variety known as a "vesuri". Here's another set of examples.

In German the tool form is gertel, this one then being a two handed gertel, Zweihandgertel, used in the forest to cut branches and clearing the brush out of your way.

Billhook - this is very much like a Finnish vesuri, but they are normally socket handled, as a rivetted handle would soon split under use - however, the japanese use this type of handle fixing, but re-inforce it with a steel ferrule next to the blade.... see www.billhooks.co.uk
