A few people wanted me to post some pics of my stamp press. It is made from 2 pieces of 8" channel iron 10" in length and 3/4" all thread rods with nuts on both sides of the channel iron to keep every thing in place. I doubled the nuts on the pressure sides for extra holding power. The stamp holder is just a little metal box with a set screw to keep the stamp from falling out. The thick piece of steel below the stamp is a full hard (no temper) piece of A-2 that has a near mirror finish. That keeps the under side of the blade from picking up dents and scratches when stamping. Hope this helps. Questions and comments welcome.

Darrin, thanks for posting this, it is very helpful. I have been thinking about a press and this is very close to the ideas I had but much better. Thanks again!

Sweet, Darrin,
Thanks for posting. If and when I break my set-up, I plan on a hydraulic press version. Yours looks effective and space-saving. How many knives do you think you have stamped with it? Have you broken or mushroomed any stamps?

I've been using it about 2 years now. I don't know exactly how many stamped with it but I'm guessing somewhere between 125-150. The stamp still looks new. I believe by pressing with smooth even pressure it should last many years. Maybe someone who has had one for a longer period of time can chime in.
