I was unable to identify this nifty-looking blade I spotted in the beginning of The Hitcher that I just recently saw. I was hoping someone here might be able to tell me what it is. I don't have pictures, but it is depicted in a vid I found:

The knife is at 1:07-1:09.

It's got a multicolored grip, what appears to be a double-edged dagger blade, and partial serrations going up the blade from the hilt. Since I'm just a beginner when it comes to knives, I can't quite explain the opening system, but I'm sure someone else who sees it in action can.

Anyone care to point this one out? It looks nice, and I may just get it for myself.

It is a custom double action automatic built by custom maker Jeff Harkins. You can pick one up as there were 10 made. They are only $2100.00 apiece, and no that is not a misprint!

Here's the website; www.finercutlery.com

If you want an exact copy of the knife that was in that horrible movie then yeah, that's how much you'll be paying.

But if you just want the same model without the "custom" part then it's actually a MOD Triton automatic knife. You can buy them for $400 at some sites.

Is the movie a remake of the 'Hitcher' with Rutger Hauer in the 1980's? Hauer played a great psycho, we'll see how Bean does. I won't be going to the theater though, I'll wait for the video.

thx - cpr

The Hitcher is a remake of that movie orca! I didn't know until I watched it with my cousins wife as I never saw the 80's version.

Lycosa, thanks for the compliment, but I just read a lot and follow a LOT of links and bookmark the ones I like, and it just happened I found that site, Finercutlery, a couple weeks ago just before seeing the movie last week.

Btw, it is on the premium channels or DVD available now.

Ah, it's an automatic. I'm not the law, so I can't get one. Damn. Looks like a nice piece, too.

Thanks anyway, guys.

You may just want to start a new thread at this point in all honesty. More accurate thread title too.

I was going to but I also know some people get upset with starting threads with questions the may be answerable in other threads

Yeah, some people get that way. Though with this, the knife and movie are different. I'd search around a bit on here and if you can't find it, create a new thread.

On a side note, since the movie is so new, it may be unlikely that people have actually seen it. Do you know if the knife was in a trailer?
