Doesn't this happen most of the time? I think it does and if not, you can always ask.
Here is a knife, I call her Margaret
Thats what you think![]()
Hmmm... naming can also be a bit tricky (and long)...

I have to say that most people probably don't even think to name their knives. I do it out of habit, but some people see fit to post a pic and it completely slips their mind to name them.
Especially when they aren't explaining said knife or being asked a question about it.
However, I've seen knives I didn't know what they were and wanted a description or at least a name, so I asked.
In time, you learn and recognize knives by name. It takes time and you do a lot of reading here on the forums and seeing other peoples knives, if you want more info, ask, no one is going to bite your head off for asking about their knives. Actually, as knife nuts, we get excited to explain our knives lol.
When I was new I didn't know a whole lot and had to learn. Another good way to learn about different knives is to frequent online knife dealers and check out what they have.
As far as some customs and rare pieces, you will likely still have to ask.
No! Some do, most don't. That's a lot of asking. Now...wouldn't it be easier to post: Show off your knife with pictures, please...include the Knife maker's name, catalog/order/description. Newbies like me would really appreciate this gesture.
