I should have posed this question here first.
I was reading an article about the new S&W 1911 when a photograph appeared with this rather excellent knife, but I've never seen anything like it before. Does anyone know what it is?

Looks like a frame lock folder with a blade that is too large for the handle, it is closed so the blade has some "hang over". It would need a sheath, but it could be a neat design.

Speaking of "hangovers" that would be a cool name for a knife "The Hangover" by -------- --------.;)

Looks like it opens into a "push dagger" style knife when it is not in the closed position pictured.

is there a better picture? I can't really tell what the knife looks like, it seems to be a sort of kerambit because i think i see a big hole on the butt of the handle

was gonna say... I think it's a Laci Szabo, but it's name also eludes my recollection.

Now that's not very original....
If I am going to name it let's call it......
Sharpie Stuffslicer.....

It kinda reminds me of a Szabo RAD but the RAD had a straight blade, this looks like a kerambit type. Cant really tell much by this sliver of a photo.

Yup...looks like one of Laci Szabo's RADs spent some time bumpin' uglies in the same knife drawer as a Karambit.

Damn....all my knives must be nuetered from the factory....:(

That's the full picture. It's cropped on the right side. They were trying to show off the 1911, but I didn't even notice it because the knife was so interesting.

The photo is in the current issue of American Handgunner.

It appears to be a push-open knife with the blade 80% extended. It's aggessive enough to be a Szabo, but there's nothing on his web site that looks even close. The blade grind is different from his other kerambit styles, and his closest folder, the Folding UUK, has a totally different blade style. This doesn't mean his didn't hand out a prototype to American Handgunner.

I love the looks of this knife. If the locking mechanism is decent and the price is reasonable, I'm in!

judging by the pivot I believe it might be : WARREN THOMAS

take a look at this pict from knifeart :

I would guess that it is a folding karambit by Warren Thomas. That just looks like his style. Though his other karambits I have seen don't have the "cigar cutter" feature.

John, you must have posted in the time between when I opened this thread and when I posted. Good call.

Just for fun, here's a page of Warren Thomas knives. ( Anybody got a spare Zero Point lying around? :D ) By the way, compare the tip of the blade on our mystery folder to his Ti Kerambit, and the handle is nearly identical to his Ti Folding Kerambit. I would give TAD Gear a call to find out what and where.

I have confirmation from Szabo that it is NOT one of his knives.

I haven't heard anything from American Handgunner.

From looking at things by Warren Thomas, I'm sold that it's his knife. The questions is: how to get in touch with him.

This is the image that nailed it for me:

The straight blade gets me - and after looking at the prices, a Sebenza is affordable!

Where does he get the hex socket screws?
