Name This Old Spyderco

Depending on the size it's either a Pro Venator or a Spur.

ETA: After looking again, I believe it's the former.

i dont see the spydie logo anywhere or the dimple in the lockback, how old is that thing?

I've seen them go for about 100 or less NIB, on eBay. They aren't in really high demand as a collector for some reason.

I heard that. Nobodys looking to snatch one up, even tho i could get a pretty penny for it. Guess its the design, doesnt really look like a spydie.

I bought one of these with a stag inlay off ebay a couple of years ago for $60 bucks.

I was on eBay looking at used knifes and i came across this hidden jem. Its G2 steel, half serrated, not a normal spyderco clip. But looks legit from the markings. So feel free to tell me what you make of it.[/B]

I have one of those (got it in the mid-90's, used it at work every day for 5 years) -- it's a Clipit ProGrip SS:

Comes in FRN/Kraton also.

I had an early version of it, originally called the Pro-Hunter.
(Venator is the Latin word for hunter, and is the root of 'venison').

esav's note on the root of the word hunter reminds myself just how much additional knowledge some members have to share with us. blades are great but the little knowledge tidbits sure add seasoning to the meat.

Thanks to everyone that helped identify the spyderco. But still I cant figure out what to call. The Pro Venator, Spur, Pro Grip SS, all look the same!

Hi Nairb_Trebor,

It looks like a Pro-Hunter / Pro-Venator. Name changed due to Imperial Schrade already using "Pro-Hunter". It's a later version of the original "Hunter" model from 1983.

We made quite a few variations of the concept with different blade shapes and different handles. The model continued to develop / evolve and is now the current Stretch model. 25+ years of continual refinement.
