A minichamp, but with 6, not 8, tools: missing are the ruler and cuticle pusher.
Large blade, small blade, and nail file seem to be on one side.

There have been several variants called "MiniChamp" and I think you've got one of them there.

Per Swissknives.com, perhaps the answer:
===============

Victorinox Vagabond Knife

The Victorinox Rogue Plus Swiss Army knife is a retired model that is midway between the Rogue and the original MiniChamp knives.

This model is no longer in production, so it is becoming a collector's item.

We still have not tracked down the official name for this model, so we took a wild guess. It is like an earlier version of the Vagabond, and one source calls it that. However, when Victorinox made a similar change to the nail file and bottle opener tips on other models, it renamed the Rover to Rally, and the Rogue to Rambler. So we suspect this model had some other name-- perhaps the Vagrant???!!!

NOTE-- We'd greatly appreciate hearing what this knife should really be called!

Rogue Plus knives are small Swiss Army knives (2 1/4" / 58mm). They contain the following tools:

* Small Blade
* Scissors
* Nail File with Nail Cleaner
* Bottle Opener with Screwdriver
* Orange Peeler
* Emergency Blade / Letter Opener
* Toothpick
* Tweezers
* Key Ring

PS: Paid $5.11 total for this "becoming a collector's item" knife.

From above, still seeking the precise proper name.

This is a little tricky......

The "proper" name was the Manager (Swiss/international model # 0.63 73)

Unfortunately there is a current Victorinox model that is also called the Manager (link to SwissArmy.com) (Swiss/international # 0.6365) which is a Rambler with a built-in retractable pen.

This is from a Victorinox brochure circa 1995 -
I have also included the MiniChamp and the Rambler for comparison -

As usual, Vincent has it right. The knife (with the philips drive on the cap lifter) was the original Manager. Unfortunately, due to the fact that they released the a newer model with the same name, it makes finding it on eBay almost impossible.

I've seen original managers with removeable pens and with toothpicks. There was an almost identical model with a flat driver on the caplifter and a pointed end to the nail file, I was under the impression that it was called the Vagabond. The original Manager and similar 6 bladed knives are the slimmest 58mm Victorinox knives you can get with the sheepsfoot blade.

Looks like my guess was incorrect. I NEVER mind being corrected by Vincent. His knowledge of SAKs is awesome!

Oops! Turns out I got a knife different than the photo, to wit, the photo shows, for the top left tool, [1] a notch between the bottle opener and the tip, WHICH THE ONE SENT ME DOESN'T HAVE and [2] the tip of that same tool in the picture shows a phillips (cross) tip, while mine is flat.
Can anyone help given this revision?

Sounds like a Vagabond to me. I recently purchased both an original Manager and Vagabond by buying them off/out of a dealers old display case since he didn't have any in stock. The scales are messed up, but the frames and blades are in perfect condition despite being left half open for at least half a decade.

BTW, if you want to get rid of your Vagabond, drop me a line :D.

enkidu, doesn't the Vagabond include:# Nail File with Screwdriver
# Bottle Opener with Phillips Screwdriver? Mine lacks these 2 traits: normal pointed nail file end, and no cross = phillips end, just narrow minus sign.
Selling may be possible; I'll put you atop the list.

PS: no notch (wirestripper?) between the bottle opener and the tip on pictures top left tool.

Sorry, didn't notice this thread had had updates. The vagabond has a pointed nail file and a bottle opener with a flat head screwdriver. At least the Vagabond that I have does :). The original Victorinox Manager has

The Manager has on the same side as the key ring:
  • Scissors
  • Multi-tool with bottle opener, wire stripper notch and philips head screwdriver
On the other side
  • sheepsfoot blade
  • orange peeler
  • nail file with flat screwdriver tip
  • standard blade
On the Vagabond that I have the only differences from the Manager are
  • the nail file has a pointed tip instead of flat head driver
  • the multi-tool has no notch and a flat head tip instead of the philips tip
As far as I've been able to tell Vagabonds are pretty rare, but aren't in high demand either. If you scour the knives sold from airport confiscations, you will occasionally see one posted for sale, usually unidentified or mis-identified as a mini-champ.

Thx. Can you describe the sheepsfoot blade? On mine, the top/back of the tool curves down to meet the blade edge that does NOT curve up to meet it.
Smartknives.com has an exact picture, with these comments .... and claims to not know the real name.
"Victorinox Vagabond Knife

Do you have a catalogue picture, and year?

According to this site - the Vagabond is supposed to have -

"Small blade, nail file, scissors, bottle opener/Phillips screwdriver, orange peeler, letter opener, tweezers and toothpick."

Now, I do not know how accurate this is - I am only relaying this information - there is no picture of the knife -

From that same site - there is also the Vagabond Original-- no wire stripper notch (retired) -

QUOTE:
"The earliest versions of the Victorinox Vagabond Swiss Army knife included a slightly lighter combination bottle opener and screwdriver that did not have a wire stripper notch. These knives are rare, and considered collector's items.
...
Vagabond Original knives are small Swiss Army knives (2 1/4" / 58mm). They contain the following tools:
Notice the list has "Phillips" and NOT a flat screwdriver.

I find it hard to believe that i'm going to contradict Vincent, but I think the website is mistaken and is describing the Manager and not the Vagabond. The differences between the Vagabond and Manager being as I described them above. And yes, the sheepsfoot blade has no curvature and the back of the blade curves down to meet the edge. You can find pictures of the blade on the current Mini-champ, which AFAIK, is the only current model to carry that blade (and it is darn useful).

I'd agree with you - that website's Victorinox listing of 2 1/4" (58 mm) knives do NOT list the original Manager that I identified earlier in this thread - supported by Victorinox catalog pics and descriptions.

I did a search of Victorinox Vagabond - other than a whole bunch of listings for luggage
this appeared to be the only site that even mentions the Vagabond
and as I said -
"Now, I do not know how accurate this is - I am only relaying this information - there is no picture of the knife -"

So I don't consider yours a contradiction at all -
but actually adding more information - and confirming what I suspected.

Thanks,
