Does having ones name stamped on the blade (by the maker) increase, decrease, or do nothing to the value of a knife.

I'd say it generally decreases the value.
Nobody wants to carry a knife with someone elses name on it.

I once bought a used Ruger SP-101 .357 with someone's three initials on it and finally traded it. It just always felt like I was carrying somebody else's gun.

On the OTHER hand...
I've got a pistol with my full name AND initials engraved on it and I'm perfectly happy with it. But then, I have no intention of ever SELLING it either.
;)

Ken, thanks for the reply. The knife I have is a Rick Dunkerly hunting knife forged out of 1" ball bearing and think it has sheep horn grips with Baldy Mountain Forge and my name on stamped on the other (cost was $400 in 1993-1994). Not a knife I would ever willing give up. Just a question to satisfy my curiosity.
