hi guys
my question is this(one of many:))
did h.i.ever make and sell kuks to the public unbranded
as i have a 12 inch kukerie made to the same high standard as a
branded h.i.kukeri down to the hanging loop on the belt frog and the high polish on the blade
looks a bit like a biltong?

It sure does look to be the H.I. style and finish, doesnt it?

In the very early days H.I sold unbranded khukuri in both finished and villager forms. It is entirely possible that it could be an early H.I. or one that was sold in sterile condition at some point. It also could be from some other maker with an eye for a quality finish. Hard to tell without a mark or some type of provenance at this point.

That looks to be a Sgt. Khadka CAK, He rarely if ever marks any of his khukuri in any way.

lal chatri would you please tell us how the frog is put together on the back side, ie does it have steel rivets or is it sewn? Indeed it does look like an early HI but then the early HI's were farmed out to a shop in Kathmandu who were paid a premium for premium khukuris. When the rejection rate finally got to the point it was unacceptable the old Shop 2 was started and the rest is history as they say. ;) :D

hi yvsa
heres a pic of the back of the frog
hope this helps

bit of a strange one this its like a letter t the upright part of the t is extra long bent over to form the belt loop then stiched
as you can see the top of the t has holes punched down each edge and its this that gose around the scabard and the holes
used to lace it together hope that makes sence also looks to hand stiched rather than maschine stiched due to the wide spacing
of the stiches.
