I have always been a big fan of traditional, soft silty muddy waterstones, especially on the 1000 grit range.
I always found my self reverting back to my king 1000 grit stone, over any of my other 2 drawers full!

I recently bought a new soaker stone from Naniwa called a Lobster series. It comes in a off green and white package. I bought a smaller size of this stone, just for something new to try.

I LOVE IT! It is similar to the king, but it retains water a bit better, and seems to cut faster, and has a bit better feedback. It is still a porous soaker stone, that needs a 15 minute bath, and gives a ton of stone mud...

Question is: I want this stone in its large size, it is the ID-0510 size, basically a big ol' brick. I have the ID 0310, and i've found a couple 0410s coming from Japan on Ebay but no one has the brick. Does anyone know of a place I have not checked that might sell this stone? I asked Mark at CKTG, but he said he would have to buy a 20 stone case to get them in...

Also noticed that Tojiro makes a "business stone" in 1000 grit that is a brick size, and it looks as though it may be the same stone, was wondering if anyone knew that for sure. I know Tojiro uses mostly Naniwa stones of various types.
Lemme know than.s

likely a Naniwa, they supply Tojiro and a few others.

Yeah its definitely a Naniwa, thanks. I was curious to know if it was the same series of stone though, I can't really tell from the pictures. I tried contacting them but nothing back.

They have about 10 different 1k stones so it would be difficult to say.

Follow this link, I have it on the page listing all the stones starting with the Gokumyo series. In the colum to the left click on the next line of blue Kanji and you will bring up the next line of stones, Chosera, Super Stone, etc.

Unfortunately I can't read Japanese, I also do not see a way to figure out if the Tojiro stone is the Micron DX stone from this article/site.

I'm trying to figure out who I can buy this particular stone from. Somebody that already has it in stock in 1000 grit.

I have the 4k "hyabusa" on its way from Japan, can't wait to try that out!

Just to come back, I got both the big sized lobster stone, and I also got the Naniwa Hyabusa! DAMN ITS NICE! I highly recommend trying the hyabusa, its a bargain.

His name is " chidori-company" on ebay, real nice guys, he knows English quite well. I recommend him!
