I recently picked up a pair of Norton water stones, a 220/1000 combo and a 4000/8000 combo. I am loving them, but now I am wondering if it is worth it to purchase a Naniwa 12000 water stone as a finishing stone. I am stropping with .05 micron green compound after the 8000. I am getting tree topping hair whittling sharp, but I feel I could get sharper yet. Yes its a sickness, but its a fun one:D.

The 12K produces a mirror finish just like your compound but there is still a slight scratch pattern that can be removed by using compound. If your good with your water stones you will easily be able to get the results from this stone that you get by stropping now, stropping then just becomes overkill :) I heard there's one For Sale!!! around here ;)

Overkill, that sounds about my style:p I am getting into traditional DE shaving and I was trying to find a way to fill out my order to get free shipping and stay within my budget, so I will have to pass on the one that's for sale here. Staying within my budget ($160.00 CND) I can get an EJ89/89L the water stone and a 60 blade sample blade package. I am thinking for that price I can't go wrong
