I would like to try using nano oil. Anyone have any recommendations n what types and where to get please? Any suggestions appreciated!
thanks!

I bought the Nano Oil "micro oilers" from Howe's Knife shop. For kicks, I bought all three varieties - 5w, 10w, and 85w. I use it on anything and everything that might need loosening up and or to stop squeaking. It seems to last for a long time also. The 5w and 10w (maybe start with the 10W?) seems to work well for knives and guns. It is supposed to help protect metal surfaces also. Seems to be working well on my M1 Garand. One place it should not go is on the end of the integral locks. I put a small drop on an integral lock that was sticking somewhat and it became much, much worse. I don't have a lot of long term heavy use experience that I can pass on but I think you'll be happy with how it performs. Knives that I've used it on continue to open smoothly. None of the door hinges in my house squeak anymore. Of course, other oils may accomplish the same things but Nano Oil seems to be right up there with the tops. You can find quite a bit of information on Howe's site but also on the Nano Oil site. Hope this helps a little bit. Mike

Try looking around on Blade Forums for Nano Oil threads. I think I've seen a couple. I think there is a decent thread on the Spyderco website forum also.

I have been using the 10W and I like it so far. Kind of expensive but it lasts and seems to get into the pivots fast with just some opening and closing of the knives.

I've been using Nano Oil for over two years now, I have both the 10w and 85w.

Nothing else I've tried even comes close as an effective lubricant plus its long lasting and comes in a convenIent applicator.

Sure it's more expensive than similar (albeit inferior) products but if I pay $500+ for a knife I'm willing to pay the extra $15 or $20 for a superior lubricant to help it function as best as possible.

For what it's worth it's worth I prefer the 10w for use on knives.

Agree with above. 10W for squirting on pivots, and it really smooths the action. I have also coated some SS damascus blades with a very light coat, and wiped it off. It provides protection from minor scratches.

Yes, I agree on the 10W for knife pivots. A little goes a long way. Cheers.

10w for pivots. GREAT stuff. I've used what seems like dozens of other products over the years - but this tops them all. Love it.

Hello Joeyza,

If you get only one grade, then by all means get the 10 weight, however you should know that all the grades have the same amount of active ingredient in them.
During the Shot Show we use the 5 weight to demonstrate since it is the fastest dispersing grade, the effect can be felt and heard in seconds,
At the show we have a set of tools to reset the pivot to very firm after treatment,
Hope this helps,
I take this opportunity to wish you all and your Families, the best of Holiday Season.
