Narrow tang knife construction.

Recently purchased a Randall 27 and would like some insight on how this is constructed.

In general a hidden tang knife has a tang much smaller than the base of the blade, the hidden tang fits through a hole in the handle (and guard, bolster and butt cap if present). The handle can simply be glued onto the tang but most frequently the end of the tang will be threaded and a nut is put on it to tighten the handle in place.

If you go to the Randall website and look at their catalog section, they have the old display board of a Model 1 in varying stages of completion. The standard leather Model 1 is a "through tang" knife with the end of the tang threaded to accept a nut and them peened over and ground smooth after the handle is all together.
