This little guy arrived yesterday. It was from an estate. I'm trying to narrow down when it was made based on the box and paperwork - assuming it is original to the knife.

1) I believe I read that the 2 piece box was last used in 1977.
2) Use & Care paper is dated 1/73. I've seen them dated 72, 73, 76, 77, 78. Are there examples from 74 and 75?
3) There was no "A Word From The President" paper included. Any idea when these were added?

Tom, I think you have done a pretty good job of answering your own question bracketing your knife between 1973 and 1977. Does it really matter if you get it any closer? Only thing that could narrow it any more would be an receipt or a purchase date written by the original owner. Nice knife.

Thanks Roger. I was just trying to narrow it down even more for discussion purposes. I am curious if the Use & Care paper was printed in 74 and 75 or if Buck had enough on hand from the 73 printing.

I think the addition of date codes in 1986 changed the collecting game to an extent unanticipated at the time. That was 2 years before the Buck Collectors Club started in 1988.
