First of all, today's line-up seems something like old times. Some of the older veterans are back in the pack but will emerge, with a few breaks.
This points shuffle is really a sick device by my standards. If you earned your 50 points behind, you should be left there.Leveling the field--gimmie' a break ! The NEW American way ? Nope ! Reminds me of dumbing down school standards to help everyone do well. If you don't have it,accept it & move on. Choose a field that you are good at & work your way up. In real life, everyone is good at something.
Unless the Daytona News- Urinal made another mistake, Kyle Petty didn't make the field. Now there's a family ! Dad has always refused to have alcohol ads on his vehicles. Fine with me. Yet it keeps his team from a race each year.
Kyle is an also-ran at this time but have you noticed his humanitarian work ? Long line of real racers.

I guess this'll wind up in W&C,fine. Safe racing .

Uncle Alan feel better now ? Yes

Uncle Alan, big barbque today, come over after 1:00 and we'll watch the race, have lots of boiled p-nuts and Pepsi colas...remember 1st dirt road on the right. See ya sweetie pie! :)

Was going to ask you if it was the pink house with the green shutters.... Cannot ger your eaddress so.... Where is Gaston ? I travelled S C in the '60's but really don't remember it. Are you near Elgin ? Did thers towns pop up later ?
'preciate the invite but we're having steak & beans. I'll be going up I-95 in 3 weeks & 'll pig out at Rogers in Florence & Deweys in Wilmington. Will dry-ice a bunch & bring it home. We'll have automatic weapons so nobody will hi-jack us. There is NO good 'que in Central Florida [or collards either ] but it's still old goats paradise.
Thanks for thinking of me !

Regards, Uncle Alan

Tony Stewart got the pole,Pretty boy beside him,JR. got Tony Eury back for the season and got third, not that it matters now.uncle Alan,I agree with you about the levelling the playing field and the points system.Anywho, oughtta' be a good race. :)

I've been going to NASCAR races for quite a while, and attended as many as fifteen a year. No more, the crowds are too much to contend with and the "parking" is a joke. Bristol was nice when it was small (I recall sitting on concrete bleachers), and Daytona was always one of my favorites as I always had pit passes. One of my best recollections is flying into Daytona, and flying out watching all the traffic below. We were back home in Charlotte before they got to the interstate.

Too much televsion coverage changed the sport, for the worse IMO.

Uncle Alan, it's on cable and I don't have cable!!! I'm 45 minutes away from Elgin. We are south towards Orangeburg. Go Earnhardt!!!!

Cindy, try listening in on the MRN (motor racing network) on the AM dial.
Sometimes the race will be on a FM country station as well.

Stewart is dominating so far.......

Stewart drove his best but it just wasn't his day. Leastwise,he is still ahead in the new dumb point system. It'll cause more wrecks ,fights & profanity than ever . Pretty boy is still snakebit . Poor baby !
Kyle WAS in the race . What do I expect from a newspaper that publishes Friday's puzzles on Saturday ? Why don't they require a literacy test for employees ?

Cup is boring without The Man in Black

Sorry, but I just don't get the thrill of watching cars go around in a circle over and over. ??? But, it IS funny to watch them get into fights and throw helmets at each other. :D
