I picked up a bunch of Nash Metro leaf springs close to the time I first started making knives. Did a few knives out of them then but they have just been setting in a corner now for years untill a few days ago. This is the strangest spring steel I have ever worked and also one of the stiffest under the hammer. I'm sure the springs were made in England since thats where the car was made. Anyone have an idea as to what the steel is?

No idea myself Raymond, but I emailed one guy(head of some Nash club or another) and posted another question about it on a Metro message board. So will see if either source happens to know the answer.

Guy I emailed didn't know, but when I posted question on the board someone jsut responded suggesting contacting Eaton Springs as they might know. They claim they make the "CORRECT" springs for your vehicle. You might try giving them a call
